Samy Benmayor was born in Santiago de Chile in 1956 and studied at the School of Fine Arts, Universidad de Chile. It belongs to the so-called generation of the 80’s, raising the permanence of traditional painting, free from prejudice and theoretical discourses, developing a neo-expressionist language, highly expressive, with a touch of mischievous humor and cartoonish figures. Received the Scholarship Corporation Friends of Art, the Information Agency of the United States grant and the “Foundation for artist colonies” twice. His work “Joy of Children” is present in the Chile-Image project which aims to disseminate the work of local artists by showing their work in public offices. He currently lives and works in Santiago.
