Visual artist. Born in Leuven, Belgium in 1974. Lives and works in Santiago, Chile.
He studied art at the University ARCIS and at the University of Chile, were he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1997.
Consumption, violence and spectacle in the context of the post-dictatorship in Chile are the central themes in his work production. Across languages and codes of design, art and advertising and using the most diverse visual resources (from painting to urban intervention, through photography, object and installation) Hamilton has focused his reflections on the analysis of the diffuse relationships that occur between advertising and violence, work and leisure, cosmetics and power.
He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world. Received successive grants from the Ministry of Education, Santiago, Chile, FONDART and in 2007 a Guggenheim Fellowship, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, New York, USA.
His works are in museums and public collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art Mac Santiago, Chile Art Wilfredo Lam Center, Havana, Cuba; Museum DKM, Duisburg, Germany; Davis Johnson Collection, Los Angeles, United States, among others.
