Born in Santiago, Jorge Tacla studied at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile. During the 80’s he moved to New York where he spent most of his career. His artistic production, based on a personal visual language, has made him become one of the most international Chilean contemporary artists. His work has evolved from paintings that were based on Afro-Latino and Native American subjects; to a more abstract, urban landscape and, with outstanding strength, craft and complexity. Jorge Tacla has received numerous honors and awards, and his work belongs to leading public and private collections. He currently lives and works in Santiago and New York.
