Emma Malig

Emma Malig was born in Santiago de Chile in 1960. Visual artist and painter, she has lived in Paris since 1993 working independently.
In 1979 she joined the Escuela de Artes de la Universidad de Chile but she left school two years later to travel to Europe. Emma started to participate in public workshops at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de París and finally admited in 1983 as a regular student. In the same city, she was a student of the yugostalvian artista Vladimir Velickovic.
Emma Malig obtained a scholarship to improve techniques like lithography in the Künstlerhaus in Berlin. After that, she obtained a grant for five years in Kyoto where she participated in papermaking and japanese painting workshops. She also exhibited his work in different galleries in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.
In 2003 she took part of the radio program “Nuit Magnetiques” (Radio France) where she showed her work. In 2005 Emma Malig was invited to take part of the film “Salvador Allende” in Santiago de Chile.
